VENTURA SUPERIOR COURT - PHASED RESUMPTION OF SERVICES
THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
COUNTY OF VENTURA
VENTURA SUPERIOR COURT TO BEGIN
PHASED RESUMPTION OF SERVICES
Ventura Superior Court Presiding Judge Kent Kellegrew has issued a new Administrative Order outlining the initial resumption of specified court services.
Beginning June 10, 2020, the court will resume the processing and filing of all court documents. Documents may only be submitted through eDelivery, United States mail or drop boxes located at the entrance to the Hall of Justice and Juvenile courthouses. The clerk’s office lobbies will remain closed to in-person services. Documents received by 4 p.m. and accepted for filing will be filed that same business day. Documents received after 4 p.m. will be processed and filed the following business day.
On June 15, 2020, the court will begin a phased re-opening of its courtrooms and clerk’s offices. In an effort to help prevent or slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and safety of all court users, employees and judicial officers, the Court will require that all persons maintain six (6) feet of physical distancing to the extent possible and wear a face covering whenever in the public areas of the courthouse. The Children’s Waiting Rooms will remain closed.
Many services will be provided remotely or by appointment only. Access to all courthouses will be restricted to persons seeking or participating in emergency services, persons required or permitted to appear for scheduled hearings or trials, and persons with a scheduled appointment for the clerk’s offices or self-help centers.
Beginning June 15, 2020, the Family Law department will resume Family Law proceedings and the calendaring of new proceedings. Until further notice, the parties and attorneys are to continue to use the “Emergency Ex Parte RequesProcedure – Family Law,” for all ex parte requests, as is set out on the Court’s website. In addition to all Family Law ex parte requests, this procedure applies to Domestic Violence, Civil Harassment, Elder/Dependent Adult Abuse, Workplace Violence and Gun Violence Restraining Order emergency requests.
Beginning June 15, 2020, the Probate department will resume all non-emergency Probate hearings to continued dates determined by the court as well as the calendaring of new proceedings.
